Community Garden Week 2022

Community Garden Week 2022

This year April 5th through to April 11th is community garden week where across the UK local school and community gardens are being celebrated. These gardens come in all different shapes and sizes and are an amazing way to bring people together as they connect through nature.

Not only is this great for the environment but it is also a good way to promote healing and happiness as it can have a positive effect on your sense of well-being. From rows and rows of fruit and vegetable allotments to beautifully kept flower beds and trim trees, or even a calming outdoor sanctuary for everyone to enjoy, a space like this has something for everyone.

The benefits of contributing at a community garden are endless;

  • You get to spend time outdoors and get back in touch with nature

  • It’s an activity for the whole family, especially for kids as it’s a fun way to educate them and teach them all about nature, eating healthy and how to help others

  • It’s a learning experience for everyone as you learn about gardening and growing different things, so there are many tips and tricks you can take away with you and use in your own garden at home

  • You’ll meet and connect with different people so it’s a great way to socialise

And the benefits of eating fresh, locally grown produce go without saying!

This year why not get involved in your local community garden and lend a helping hand? but don’t worry though, you won’t need to have any green fingers or thumbs, just a willingness to get stuck in!
